An Atlanta healthcare executive was arrested last week and charged with soliciting a child for sex in Geneva County.
Michael Lee Graue, 58, is charged with electronic solicitation of a child. He was arrested Friday in the parking lot of Mom’s Kitchen in the town of Hartford.

Approximately 431 teachers were arrested in the southeast from 2007 to 2011 for sexual misconduct according to a study in the “Journal of Childhood Sexual Abuse”.
Here in Alabama, nearly 70 teachers have been accused of inappropriate actions with a student in the last two years with more than half of those in the last ten months.
Last month, a Selma teacher, LaTangela Wiliams, pleaded guilty to having sex with students. Anthony Ray Staten Jr., a substitute teacher at Alabama Christian Academy, was charged with having sexual contact with a student. Then a Southlawn Middle School teacher was charged with indecent exposure.
The most recent case came Friday when police charged a north Alabama soccer coach, David Jacobs Barrow, with sexual abuse and Human Trafficking.

Seven local sex offenders are back behind bars after being caught in violation of adult sex offender registration laws.
Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said the sting was the result of joint efforts between his office, Troy Police Department, the Alabama Bureau of Investigations and U.S. Marshals Service.
“The team verified that the registered sex offenders were living in compliance,” said Thomas. “We checked all 89 sex offenders’ residences and got seven warrants issued.”

A Florence couple was indicted last week on more than 100 charges related to exploiting a minor child in their custody to produce child pornography.
The charges against Patricia Allana Ayers, 34, and her husband, Matthew David Ayers, 42, were outlined in a 107-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Birmingham.
Investigators found the couple in possession of 53 pornographic images of the child produced between the summer of 2010 and January 2013.

A Dothan woman admitted to police that she used the nickname “Lady Woo” in an online web forum in an effort to solicit child pornography.
Dothan Police Cpl. Tim Mullis, the department’s internet crimes against children investigator, said both 31-year-old Samantha Victoria Bryant and her boyfriend Ellison Ray Dooling used nicknames involving the word “Woo” in an online internet forum.

Blount County’s District Attorney is asking Instagram to take down offensive posts which she believes could be cyberbullying.
Someone has been taking young teenage girls photos on the social media website and reposting under offensive headlines such as “WHORESOFBLOUNTCOUNTY” or “SLUTSOFSUSANMOORE.”

Stephen Conrad was arrested in April 2013 on more than 100 counts of child sex abuse charges, but those counts were ultimately dropped by the D.A.’s Office after the now former Tallassee Assistant Police Chief was accused of evidence tampering and witness intimidation.
According to the investigator who testified about the case, Brandy Conrad admitted to abusing children and being present while child abuse was taking place. The details of the testimony are graphic and WSFA 12 News has made the decision not to report details regarding them.

Well, it was bound to happen.
Sooner or later the strange cases of Alabama teachers engaging in sexual behavior with their students was going to catch the attention of somebody with either a microphone, TV camera or web site outside Alabama.
And it has.
The Daily Caller recently posted the provocative version of a vintage Alabama greeting card – the one shown above. I received a number of emails from friends and educators I have known over the years cringing at the image and headline but also asking me to share it to show that in the www dot world we connect not just to ourselves but to many others outside our borders.
As you can read, the Washington-based web site used a slide show of the accused teachers to prove their contention that “Alabama is the teacher-student sex capital of the USA.”

Jockisch, 69, was arrested last fall, five months after he answered a casual encounter ad on Craigslist, according to testimony. In July 2013 he started corresponding with a 15-year-old girl.
The girl turned out to be an undercover FBI agent.

The sexual abuses cases against Brian Frederick Lucas, whose twin brother was recently sentenced to prison in Colorado on child sex charges, are headed to a Madison County grand jury after he waived his preliminary hearing set for today.
Lucas faces two separate cases involving alleged sexual contact with a former relative who is a teenager and a family baby-sitter, who was 18 at the time.
