Former Army officer Aaron Lucas, 33, of Huntsville, was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison today in Colorado for multiple sex crimes against children, the Gazette reports.

According to the Gazette, the former Fort Carson soldier  was sentenced by Judge David Shakes for charges that included rape and sexual assault of a child.

The Anniston Star is reporting that former Cleburne County teacher Bronson Ward was sentenced in Calhoun County Circuit Court today to 15 years in prison.

Ward, 33, who was also a girls basketball coach, was arrested in September on five charges of having sex with students under the age of 19. Investigators said the acts involved two students, took place in Cleburne and Calhoun counties, and went back as far as 2009.

A Thorsby sixth grade teacher indicted on rape and sodomy charges allegedly had sex with a teen boy at her school on more than one occasion, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

Jennifer Collins McNeill, 39, of Thorsby, was indicted Feb. 14 on six counts of second-degree rape and two counts of second degree sodomy, said C.J. Robinson, chief deputy district attorney for the circuit covering Chilton, Elmore and Autauga counties.

A Houston County judge sentenced a man Wednesday to 99 years behind bars for the rape of a 10-year-old girl.

Circuit Court Judge Butch Binford sentenced Donald E. Lacey, 43, of Panama City, Fla., to the prison term for a felony first-degree rape conviction.

Assistant Houston County District Attorney Gary Maxwell asked the court for the maximum sentence of 99 years.

Police have already said they believe Knight provided the gun for the shooting, but that the 15-year-old juvenile actually pulled the trigger. Police have also said two other people apparently waited down the street in a vehicle when the shooting happened.

Police also said information technology, such as social media, helped police develop the suspects in the murder.

Oliver Brazelle, 79, the former music director at the First United Methodist Church in Sheffield, was arrested Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, and charged with second-degree sexual abuse and one-count of second-degree sodomy, according to officials in Lauderdale County.

Brazelle had been barred in 2003 from directing youth choirs by the Methodist bishop for North Alabama, according to records released during the investigation by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, because of allegations of inappropriate relationships with young people alleged to have occurred in the 1970s. When the Sheffield police opened an investigation in July 2012, Brazelle admitted to church officials that he had had an inappropriate relationship with a youth in the past. Church officials fired Brazelle on July 27, 2012.

A youth pastor arrested Tuesday on 35 counts of child pornography and sex abuse has been on the staff of Highland Park Baptist for 16 years and formerly served as a juvenile detention officer in Tuscumbia.

Jeff Eddie, who was charged with two counts of child pornography, 31 counts of second-degree sodomy, and three counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12, lists the Tennessee Valley Juvenile Detention Facility as a former employer on his webpage.

UPDATE: Columbus Police have made an arrest.  Gregory Wilson was taken to jail Saturday evening.  He will be in Recorder’s Court Monday 2-10-14 at 2 p.m.

Columbus Police are looking for a man who followed an underage girl into the ladies room of a fast food restaurant and used his cell phone to record her in the stall.

“When I looked down, he was under the stall. I said, ‘what are you doing?’, and right after that, he got out,” said Madison Plemons, 17.

Madison Plemons and her boyfriend just left a Cottonmouths game at the Civic Center last Sunday and stopped by the Burger King in the 1300 block of Veterans Parkway for something to eat on their way home.

The boyfriend in the Dallas County animal abuse case has been sentenced with jail time and community service after being accused of hanging a puppy from the ceiling and photographing it.

23-year-old Andrew Parish, who appeared in court Tuesday morning, has been sentenced to 6 months in jail, 24 months probation and 100 hours of community service. Parish’s girlfriend 26-year-old Caroline Dunnam will not face any charges because Parish admitted to being the one who committed the abuse.

Previously the couple voluntarily relinquished their ownership rights to the puppy, now known as “Timmy” during a Jan. 21 court hearing. Authorities were alerted to the animal abuse case after a photo was posted on Facebook that led them to the dog’s owners.
