A former Midland City police officer has been sentenced in a child sex abuse case.
The Opelika-Auburn News reports 39-year-old Christopher Allen Ford was convicted of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 and was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in prison.

The system planned the change over for Sept. 30. When the system sent instructions to AirWatch, the service administering the iPads for the city schools, an error caused it to hide apps, notes and e-textbooks already downloaded to the devices.

“I really like the app. It goes out about 6:00 in the evening when everyone is home from practice and everyone is home from work and getting started with their evening activities and then they get the text about homework. Given all the boundary situations, it is good safe way to do things,” said Lisa Crownover, a teacher at Wetumpka High School who also uses the app.
After so many alleged inappropriate relationships, the app serves as a safe haven and eliminates any excuse for a teacher or student to personally contact each other. It conceals phone numbers and those receiving the texts can’t even respond.

Capps said the mistrial declaration stemmed from a situation where an item of evidence was inadvertently not turned over to the defense. He said the ruling came after it was discovered the defense was not given a report generated by a cyber crimes unit.

Assistant Hartford Police Chief Ben Berry said Hartford police arrested 24-year-old Justin Colby Hutton on Friday, and charged him with felony electronic solicitation of a child and felony traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.

A woman who used internet chatrooms to try to arrange for strangers to rape a former work colleague has been jailed for six years.
Joanne Berry, 30, from Grove Park, south-east London, said she liked role-play and invited men to act out violent “rape scenarios” with her.
But instead of giving her own address she gave that of the work colleague in Kent.

Houston County Sheriff’s investigators recently arrested a Columbia man on charges he sexually assaulted two girls, ages 8 and 9 years old.
Court records show sheriff’s investigators arrested 55-year-old Cecil Michael Hudson and charged him with two felony counts of sexual torture.
