Leon M. Sturgis was wanted by the Monroe County, N.Y. Sheriff’s Department for rape, two counts of criminal sex act, sexual abuse and criminal obstruction of breathing, the U.S. Marshals Service stated in a release.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled July 7. In the meantime, Circuit Judge James P. Smith ordered Campos to return to jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

A 19-year-old is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail after asking a fictional stranger to shoot and kill her family.
According to court records filed Tuesday, 19-year-old Marissa Williams has lived with her aunt in Fosters, Ala., since April 2014. Their relationship was strained by Williams’ habits on social media — she allegedly would invite strangers she befriended on sites like Facebook over to her house.
When her aunt asked Williams to stop inviting men she met online to her home and did not allow her to go to parties with strangers, the 19-year-old blocked her aunt on Facebook, prohibiting the woman from seeing what her niece was doing there.

A former teacher at Oak Mountain Middle School pleaded guilty this morning to one felony count of being a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student younger than 19.
Under the plea agreement, Jeffery Scott Atkins, who turns 41 on Wednesday, received a sentence of 20 years in prison that was split to require him to serve three years with the remaining term suspended. Following his release he will be placed on five years of supervised probation.

The Alabama Supreme Court on Friday reversed an appeals court decision and reinstated the conviction and life sentence of a man found guilty of raping a young relative.
The decision, which came on an 8-1 vote, means that Rickey Cleston Woods, 54, will resume a sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole.

A man who subjected a child to inappropriate contact for two years has been sentenced to 10 years for the crime.
“We were very pleased with the sentence,” said Assistant District Attorney Josh Wilson, prosecutor for the trial and the sentencing. “In fact, that was what the we had asked for.”
A jury found Lawrence Lewis Jr. guilty of sexual abuse last month. Pike County Circuit Judge Thomas Head could have sentenced Lewis to as little as a year and a day for the class c felony.
