While police were investigating, they say two other victims were discovered. One of the victims was 17 years old at the time of the recording.

Sherman Tate appeared in court Thursday and was acquitted of a rape charge. Both girls were students at Mobile’s Point Academy, a school for troubled youth, when the assaults occurred in 2010. The girls testified that 38-year-old Tate had assaulted them on several occasions.

A Houston County jury convicted a Columbia man on Thursday of repeatedly molesting a girl over a six-to-eight-year period.

Assistant Houston County District Attorney Kristen Shields said the jury found 40-year-old Todd Whitehead guilty of multiple felony sexual assault charges, which included rape, sex abuse and incest.

Shields said sheriff’s deputies took Whitehead into custody after the guilty verdict. He’d previously been released on bail.
