A 19-year-old is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail after asking a fictional stranger to shoot and kill her family.

According to court records filed Tuesday, 19-year-old Marissa Williams has lived with her aunt in Fosters, Ala., since April 2014. Their relationship was strained by Williams’ habits on social media — she allegedly would invite strangers she befriended on sites like Facebook over to her house.

When her aunt asked Williams to stop inviting men she met online to her home and did not allow her to go to parties with strangers, the 19-year-old blocked her aunt on Facebook, prohibiting the woman from seeing what her niece was doing there.

A former teacher at Oak Mountain Middle School pleaded guilty this morning to one felony count of being a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student younger than 19.

Under the plea agreement, Jeffery Scott Atkins, who turns 41 on Wednesday, received a sentence of 20 years in prison that was split to require him to serve three years with the remaining term suspended. Following his release he will be placed on five years of supervised probation.

Also arrested were Tammie Denise Garner, 53, of Oakman and Tiffany Lee Meck, 24, of Decatur. Both are charged with soliciting prostitution. Meck’s mother, 43-year-old Geneva Elaine Meck, is charged with aiding and abetting prostitution for allegedly providing means for her daughter’s solicitation.

Court records made public this afternoon outline the specific complaints against Barrow, who has been suspended from his volunteer position at Guntersville High School.

A 52-year-old man is in the Bessemer City Jail after authorities say he attempted to abduct a 13-year-old girl and possibly kidnapped another female before leading lawmen on a chase.

The ordeal began about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday outside of the Fourth Avenue Supermarket in Bessemer. The teen girl said the man approached her and asked her if she knew someone, and gave her a specific name. When she told the man no, he offered her $20 to get in the car with him, said Bessemer police Deputy Chief Mike Roper.
