About once every two weeks, Sgt. Geary Graves of the Prattville Police Department handles a sexting-related issue involving teenagers.
Graves, who works in computer forensics, said it has risen from the about one case every three or four months that they had only a few years ago.

Police found out about the alleged crime when a female juvenile escaped a Dothan hotel room where she said she was being held. She ran to another hotel and a patron there called the police. She said she was taken from Mississippi, forced to take drugs and sold for sex.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Former University of Alabama and NFL linebacker Saleem Abdul Rasheed, carrying a copy of the Quran and a skull cap called a Kufi, surrendered to a judge this morning to begin serving a sentence for his guilty plea to charges that he had sex with two students at Woodlawn High School while he was a teacher at that school.

The Dothan Police Department has arrested a man accused of kidnapping a girl and using her for drugs and sex.
Alonso Santiagito was taken into custody Friday after a concerned citizen called police to report that an underage female had escaped from a local hotel where she was being held captive by Santiagito.

Two Dothan residents face multiple counts of possession of child pornography following an investigation into online solicitation of child pornography.
Samantha Bryant, 30, and Ellison Ray Dooling, 51, both of S. Oates Street, are facing 44 counts each of possession of child pornography. Bryant and Dooling were arrested on Friday.

Madison detectives were alerted to the case by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services early this month. Authorities were told the incident occurred several years ago when the child lived in Madison, The Times previously reported.
Authorities say the victim came forward after attending a school presentation on child abuse awareness.

In a post Monday on a Facebook account belonging to Alabama state Sen. Shadrack McGill, R-Woodville, a poster identifying herself as McGill’s wife said women have used the social media network to approach her husband “multiple times” since he was first elected in 2010.
“I have been silent for long enough!!” a person who identified herself as Heather McGill wrote. “NO MORE! Multiple times since being in office he has gotten emails from women (who may not even be real) inviting him to explore, also sending pictures of themselves.”

The Montgomery man police say used social media to lure his victims to be raped has pleaded guilty to 12 counts relating to the rapes of five women.
At the time of his arrest, authorities called 22-year-old Roderikus Alloway a serial rapist and sexual predator. He has now pleaded guilty to five counts of first degree rape, six counts of first degree sodomy and one count of forcible sexual touching.

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) – An employee of the juvenile court’s Youth Advocacy Program has been found guilty of sodomizing two teenage girls.
Sherman Tate appeared in court Thursday and was acquitted of a rape charge. Both girls were students at Mobile’s Point Academy, a school for troubled youth, when the assaults occurred in 2010. The girls testified that 38-year-old Tate had assaulted them on several occasions.

Tuscaloosa police officers arrested two men on rape charges involving the same 14-year-old girl they allegedly met online.
Investigators say the men met the 14-year-old girl on a social media website called “Tagged,” a site where people can exchange pictures and messages. The teen’s mother found messages from older men to her daughter and called police on Dec. 31, 2012.
