Pilkington, a Crossover Ministries client from Auburn, was caught after parents of multiple teenage girls reported that a man using the name “Bill Allen” had contacted their daughters on the social media site. Pilkington was ultimately arrested after Opp Police Department investigator Kevin Chance posed as one of the girls in a more than 12-hour online chat of sexually-explicit remarks. Pilkington, who stole a van to facilitate a meeting, was taken into custody less than 1,000-feet from a suggested meeting place.

Ozark, AL (WSFA) – A substitute bus driver employed to transport children for the Ozark City Schools system is now charged with soliciting a child.
Jonathan Lee, 29, of Ozark was taken into custody Thursday by Dale County Sheriff’s Deputies after setting up a location where he was to meet the minor.

Madison Police said Discovery Middle School’s Band Director John Nash was arrested for failing to report his 24-year-old son John “Bradley” Nash – a volunteer with the band – was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student.
School officials at Discovery Middle School reported a possible inappropriate relationship with the student and Bradley to authorities on June 28. Officials said Bradley’s father was also notified of the relationship prior to the arrest, but failed to report the incident to authorities under the strict Alabama mandatory reporting law.

A Dothan man faces Florida felony charges in connection to an undercover internet sex sting investigation dubbed Operation Riptide.
According to Ruth Corley, a spokesperson for the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, investigators arrested a dozen people as part of the operation, which included Antonio Emanuel. Investigators charged Emanuel, 21, of East Saunders Road, with traveling to meet a minor for sexual activity and soliciting a child via the internet.

Marshall says the scammers are calling victims, posing as the Montgomery County Sheriff. They threaten them with an arrest warrant, unless they send money. Marshall says the mindset is easy to recognize, “They instill fear in this people. I don’t want to be arrested, so I better send money.”
Corporal Kenneth Gordon is investigating the so-called scam for the Sheriff’s Office. Gordon puts it simply, “It’s a scam, it’s been a scam since the beginning.”

A 31-year-old Montgomery, Alabama man is facing new criminal charges in connection with an online sextortion plot that investigators believe now spans the globe.
Christopher Patrick Gunn was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Montgomery with two counts of production of child pornography, three counts of interstate extortion, and three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce in furtherance of unlawful activity.
Those indictments are in addition to the two counts of possession of child pornography with which he had already been charged, U.S. Attorney George L. Beck, Jr., explained.

In two recent local cases of alleged inappropriate relationships between students and teachers, interaction between students and teachers via social networks is a factor in the cases.

A Rehobeth High School teacher has been placed on administrative leave after Houston County Sheriff’s investigators charged him with having sex with a student.
Tim Pitchford, the superintendent for Houston County Schools, said he’s placed Robert Lee Michel on administrative leave after he was notified by Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes of the pending felony charges filed against Michel.

Circuit Judge Ashley McKathan this week sentenced Samuel McCormick to 10 years in prison and ordered him to pay a $3,500 fine for his March conviction of knowingly possessing obscene matter containing visual depictions of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts.
