A man who subjected a child to inappropriate contact for two years has been sentenced to 10 years for the crime.

“We were very pleased with the sentence,” said Assistant District Attorney Josh Wilson, prosecutor for the trial and the sentencing. “In fact, that was what the we had asked for.”

A jury found Lawrence Lewis Jr. guilty of sexual abuse last month. Pike County Circuit Judge Thomas Head could have sentenced Lewis to as little as a year and a day for the class c felony.

He is charged with two counts of first-degree human trafficking and is in the Madison County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Also arrested were Tammie Denise Garner, 53, of Oakman and Tiffany Lee Meck, 24, of Decatur. Both are charged with soliciting prostitution. Meck’s mother, 43-year-old Geneva Elaine Meck, is charged with aiding and abetting prostitution for allegedly providing means for her daughter’s solicitation.

Prosecutors today released disturbing allegations against the Guntersville High School volunteer soccer coach charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse.

According to court records, David Barrow has been charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old and two counts of human trafficking. He was originally charged with three counts of sexual abuse and one count of human trafficking when police announced his arrest on May 9.

Court records made public this afternoon outline the specific complaints against Barrow, who has been suspended from his volunteer position at Guntersville High School.

A group of students at a northern Virginia high school are being investigated for using Dropbox as a makeshift porn site by sharing nude pictures of their female classmates, officials said.

The Fairfax County home of at least one McLean High School student was searched after a tipster alerted authorities that dozens of explicit photos of students — most of whom were underage — had been uploaded to the file hosting site, WTTG-TV reported.

It was not immediately clear if any of the teenaged girls in the pictures were aware that they had been photographed.

A 52-year-old man is in the Bessemer City Jail after authorities say he attempted to abduct a 13-year-old girl and possibly kidnapped another female before leading lawmen on a chase.

The ordeal began about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday outside of the Fourth Avenue Supermarket in Bessemer. The teen girl said the man approached her and asked her if she knew someone, and gave her a specific name. When she told the man no, he offered her $20 to get in the car with him, said Bessemer police Deputy Chief Mike Roper.

eBay officials are taking flak for burying news of the password reset issued in response to a hack on the company’s corporate network that exposed sensitive data for millions of users.

More than seven hours after eBay published an advisory that was five clicks removed from end users, the company still made no mention of the breach, said to affect 145 million customers, in e-mails, on its front page, or when users log in to their accounts. The bare-bones post disclosed a breach in February or March that allowed attackers to make off with cryptographically protected passwords. It advised users to change their login credentials. The breach also exposed customers’ names, e-mail addresses, home addresses, phone numbers, and dates of birth in a human readable format.

A woman is behind bars after allegedly pretending to be an East Texas high school student.

Charity Anne Johnson, 31, was enrolled at New Life Christian School in Longview as a sophomore. Longview police say Johnson was arrested Tuesday at an apartment in the 400 block of S. High Street. Residents told officers they had reason to believe she was lying about her age and wanted assistance in making her leave.

Officer Debra Stiles said Johnson gave officers the name “Charite Stevens” and a birth date of November 24, 1997. This is the information Johnson used to enroll at New Life Christian School.

A spokesperson for the school said Johnson was brought in to enroll with a person who was her guardian. She enrolled in the school, giving a date of birth that indicated she was 15. On Tuesday, staff at the school discovered her identification was fake. She had been a student there since October 2013.

A convicted sex offender is back in jail after authorities say he exposed himself to customers in the parking lot of a Pinson grocery store.

On May 2, Jefferson County sheriff’s officials received reports of a man exposing himself outside of Food Giant on Alabama 75. Three days later, on May 5, the same man was seen inside the grocery store with a small child, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian.
