A Clio man is under arrest and charged with sexual intercourse and deviant sexual intercourse with a child as well as first degree rape and first degree sodomy. At least two other suspects are being sought.

A news release from the department said the girls also kicked the boy in the groin and dragged him by his hair. They also got him to walk onto a partially frozen pond. When the boy fell through several times, they made him get out each time by himself, police said.
Detectives found videos on the girls’ cell phones.

As part of its efforts to install malware on “millions” of computers worldwide, the National Security Agency impersonated Facebook to trick targets into downloading malicious code.
“In some cases the NSA has masqueraded as a fake Facebook server, using the social media site as a launching pad to infect a target’s computer and exfiltrate files from a hard drive,” reports The Intercept in its latest expose based on top-secret documents obtained by Edward Snowden.
“[The NSA] has sent out spam emails laced with the malware, which can be tailored to covertly record audio from a computer’s microphone and take snapshots with its webcam. The hacking systems have also enabled the NSA to launch cyberattacks by corrupting and disrupting file downloads or denying access to websites.”

As many as 1,300 current and former Johns Hopkins University biomedical engineering students’ personal information was posted online by an attacker claiming to be affiliated with hacktivist collective Anonymous.
After the university refused to give into extortion threats, the hacker dumped the data, including students’ names, email addresses and phone numbers, online, according to The Balitmore Sun.

A former Leeds Middle School teacher was arrested Wednesday after authorities said she was sexting a 14-year-old male student.
Ashley Casiday, 31, turned herself into the St. Clair County Jail Wednesday morning. She is charged with one count of transmitting obscene material to a child, said St. Clair County District Attorney Richard Minor. She is out of jail after posting $100,000 bond.

A Utah truck driver kept sex slaves in his semitrailer for months at a time while he traveled the country, filing down their teeth, forcing them to alter their appearance and beating them until they nearly passed out, authorities said.
Timothy Jay Vafeades, 54, made an initial appearance Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Fargo, N.D., and will now be transferred to Utah for further proceedings.
The charges against him include kidnapping, transportation for illegal sexual activity, and possession of child pornography, and could bring a life sentence if he is convicted. His public defender, Richard Henderson, could not be reached for comment.

Investigators say evidence of child pornography was found on a computer in Brown’s residence back in January after he was arrested on drug warrants for making narcotic transactions through the computer. The computer was seized at that time.

Massachusetts lawmakers Thursday passed a bill banning “upskirting” in response to a ruling by the state’s highest court that said a law aimed at criminalizing voyeurism did not apply to the snapping of secret photos up a woman’s skirt.
The bill now goes to Gov. Deval Patrick, who has publicly committed to signing it, his office said Thursday.
The bill would make photographing or recording video under a person’s clothing illegal, according to a statement from the office of Senate President Therese Murray.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center and the Center for Digital Democracy have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission against Facebook’s $16 billion acquisition of WhatsApp based on privacy concerns, according to a document released Thursday. EPIC and CDD’s problems with the acquisition center around the fact that WhatsApp staked its reputation on—that it’s a company keeping a reasonable distance from its customers’ data. Now that it will fall under the aegis of Facebook, its users stand to lose those privacy guarantees, even though WhatsApp told its users nothing would change.
Facebook draws legal complaints for treading outside the bounds of responsible data use on a fairly regular basis. There was Beacon, which posted users’ activity to third party sites without so much as a heads up. There were Sponsored Stories, which placed users’ photos and names alongside ads. There was the sudden unsolicited use of facial recognition. The list goes on with many new and interesting ways Facebook has found to use the information it’s collected, but it’s plain that given an opportunity, Facebook is more likely to ask forgiveness than permission.

“For the community and parents, I suggest they follow a deliberate, structured approach to address the issues that poor use of technology can create,” Price said. “On our website, whoswatchingalabama.org, we provide a number of online resources.”
Among those resources is a framework called ADMIT, which offers simple steps that foster a safe computing environment for everyone, especially children.
“We designed the ADMIT framework as a tool to assist parents, guardians, and others with these challenging events,” he said.
