That’s what happened to the NFL’s New England Patriots this week, when the football team’s attempt to reward their followers on Twitter turned into a social media manager’s worst nightmare.

It all began Thursday morning, when the Patriots tweeted they were celebrating reaching 1 million followers by thanking fans with “custom digital Pats jerseys.”

An Opp man was arrested Thursday morning on charges of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

After an alert from the Department of Human Resources that something was happening to the victim, Opp Police Department investigators arrested 57-year-old Timmy Wayne Norris.

The incident happened within the city limits, and the victim was a young female with whom Norris was familiar, according to OPD Chief Mike McDonald.

A Hueytown man is in custody on nearly $1 million bond after authorities say he sexually abused three young boys under the age of 12.

Jason Tobias Kreider, 33, preyed on children whose families he befriended, authorities said. Investigators learned he would tell the children that if they told anyone, they would be placed in DHR custody and taken from their loved ones.
