BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – A jury in Birmingham has returned a $1 million judgment against a former youth minister who was accused of sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old girl in the congregation.

The former youth minister of Word of Life Christian Center, William David Webb, pleaded guilty in 2009 to transporting a minor girl across state lines for sex. His is serving a 5-year sentence.

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) – Colbert County officials arrested a man after they said they found dozens of albums containing child pornography.

60-year-old Myron Joe Sizemore of Muscle Shoals was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of pornographic material.

Police said Sizemore was indicted in September after emergency responders found the pornography in his home on August 3.

Madison Police said Discovery Middle School’s Band Director John Nash was arrested for failing to report his 24-year-old son John “Bradley” Nash – a volunteer with the band – was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student.

School officials at Discovery Middle School reported a possible inappropriate relationship with the student and Bradley to authorities on June 28. Officials said Bradley’s father was also notified of the relationship prior to the arrest, but failed to report the incident to authorities under the strict Alabama mandatory reporting law.

Marshall says the scammers are calling victims, posing as the Montgomery County Sheriff.  They threaten them with an arrest warrant, unless they send money.  Marshall says the mindset is easy to recognize,  “They instill fear in this people.  I don’t want to be arrested, so I better send money.”

Corporal Kenneth Gordon is investigating the so-called scam for the Sheriff’s Office.  Gordon puts it simply, “It’s a scam, it’s been a scam since the beginning.”

A 31-year-old Montgomery, Alabama man is facing new criminal charges in connection with an online sextortion plot that investigators believe now spans the globe.

Christopher Patrick Gunn was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Montgomery with two counts of production of child pornography, three counts of interstate extortion, and three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce in furtherance of unlawful activity.

Those indictments are in addition to the two counts of possession of child pornography with which he had already been charged, U.S. Attorney George L. Beck, Jr., explained.
